However, as these intermittent generation technologies have gained ground in the energy mix, and electricity demand shows prospects of strong future growth due to the increasing electrification of end uses, including transportation, as well as the rising demand from data processing centers and the green hydrogen industry, the need has emerged to identify an alternative firm energy source. This would help reduce dependence on thermoelectric plants that operate with fossil fuels.
